Jonathan Krisel

Jonathan Krisel is the co-creator, writer, executive producer, and director of IFC's Portlandia, starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and executive produced by Lorne Michaels. For his work on the Portlandia, Jonathan has been nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards in the "Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series" and "Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series" categories. Additionally, Jonathan and the Portlandia team won the Writers Guild of America Award for "Best Comedy/Variety Series – Television" in 2013 and a Peabody Award in 2011.

Jonathan got his start in television when he created the Brooklyn cable access series HyperDimensional Fortress. The show garnered the attention of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, and which led to Jonathan's collaboration on the AdultSwim series Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, as director and co-executive producer.

In 2009, Jonathan started making acclaimed shorts for Funny or Die, including early versions of “Rich Dicks” and “Ed Hardy Boyz” with comedian Nick Kroll. Those sketches would later become staples of Comedy Central's Kroll Show, which Krisel co-created, wrote, produced and directed in it's first two seasons.

Jonathan also has a successful commercial career having shot with celebrity talent including Will Arnett for AT&T and most recently, Amy Poehler for Old Navy. Jonathan has also shot campaigns for Dr Pepper, Dentyne and Sony to name a few.

Most recently Jonathan hopped on to direct Louis CK and Zach Galifianakis’s new pilot for FX from exec producer Lorne Michaels. Additionally, Jonathan is directing and exec producing Man Seeking Woman, another FX project from Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.
